5Rise Receives Award From Bingley Civic Trust
Yorkshire-based developer 4Urban has been presented with a cup by Bingley Civic Trust for its redevelopment of 5Rise shopping centre.
The prize is not presented annually, although it is discussed and voted for by the members of Bingley Civic Trust each year. It is given to a company/or person that has made a significant contribution to the improvement of Bingley over the last 12 months. This year it has been presented to 4Urban for its regeneration of 5Rise which has improved the appearance and accessibility of the shopping area and Main Street in Bingley. As well as providing the local residents with a brand new library and enhanced shopping facilities with a mixture of both local and national tenants such as Co-operative Food and Home Bargains.
Richard Holmes, development director of 4Urban and local Bingley resident comments: “We are thrilled to receive this honour from Bingley Civic Trust, as a local resident I had been well aware that the retail facilities in Bingley had been inadequate for a number of years due to neglect, under-investment and failed promises. Our redevelopment of 5Rise has always focused on the long term benefits for the local community so to have this recognised so soon after completion is a great honour.”
5Rise completed in December 2009 with in excess of 65% per cent of the retail space already let. No mean feat considering the tough operational conditions of the time. The anchor tenants are Co-operative Food and Home Bargains who join Santander, Greggs, Timpson, Betfred, Boots, Klick and NatWest. To date the retail element continues to attract interest with a further unit currently under offer and an announcement to be made soon.
